CE&P Recognized by CA Senator Ben Hueso for 3.1M Tax Credit Award

Imperial County, California – September 5, 2014 - California Ethanol & Power, LLC (CE&P) was recently recognized by California Senator Ben Hueso (40th District) for being awarded a $3.1 million income tax credit as part of the California Governor’s Office of Business and Economic Development (GO-Biz) California Competes program.  See local ABC news affiliate footage HERE.
 
The California Competes program is designed to encourage businesses to expand or relocate their business in California in an effort to generate new jobs and stimulate economic development. GO-Biz evaluated the most competitive applications based on 11 factors required by statute, including total jobs created, total investment, average wage, strategic importance, economic impact and more.
 
The Governor’s Office of Business and Economic Development (GO-Biz) serves as California’s single point of contact for economic development and job creation efforts. GO-Biz offers a range of services to business owners including: attraction, retention and expansion services, site selec-tion, permit streamlining, clearing of regulatory hurdles, small business assistance, international trade development, assistance with state government, and much more. The California Competes Tax Credit is an income tax credit available to businesses that want to come to California or stay and grow in California. Tax credit agreements will be negotiated by GO-Biz and approved by a newly created “California Competes Tax Credit Committee,” consist-ing of the State Treasurer, the Director of the Department of Finance, the Director of GO-Biz, one appointee each by the Speaker of the Assembly and Senate Committee on Rules.
